It's not only important to keep your list of subscribers growing but you might be asking how to keep your list of subscribers also engaged. How often is too often to send emails and how can you make your emails stand out in crowded inboxes? Is there a best day and time of day to send your email? How to Grow Your Email Subscriber List


Always be on the lookout for ways to generate new subscribers to your email lists. Annually, be prepared to lose up to 25% of current subscribers, there are a number of ways to keep generating new engaged subscribers.

  • Consider offering new content, a white paper or free ebook when an email address is submitted.

  • Host webinars - advertise a free webinar on the latest information and tips you can provide for prospective clients.

  • Offer a coupon for an item or service.

  • Giveaway a free tool or demo of your product or service.

  • Use social media such as Facebook ads and LinkedIn driving clients to your landing page.

  • Add a newsletter opt-in to your website and social media platforms; keep your preferred clients up to speed by providing newsletters and state of the art content in the expertise and subject you specialize in.


It's Not About Quantity, It's All About Quality


There's always satisfaction at looking at a large number of subscribers, however a highly engaged audience will give you a far better pay off!

  • Include information that your subscribers are wanting to learn about or receive discounts.

  • Segment your lists based upon interests (keep in mind purchasing habits, information that interests that specific field).

  • Participate in list hygiene. Segmenting those that haven't opened emails in a while and start a re-engagement campaign.

  • Leverage the data you receive by asking subscribers what they really want from you.

  • Automate email services based on their purchasing and click through trends.

Add Personalization


Don't be afraid to add a first name in the subject line. Sometimes, the simpler the email, the better.

  • Introduce yourself; greet subscribers by first name.

  • Don't be afraid to include an emoji .

Best Time of Day to Send


Trends have been shifting since more and more companies are working remotely. Recipients may have children schooling at home and have times later in the day to check emails.

  • Test which times of day and days of the week your audience is more likely to be engaged in their inboxes.

  • Shifting of times going into 2021 has seen an uptick in open rates between the hours of 11 am - 4 pm.

  • Depending on your business, your days of the week may shift. If you're marketing B2B services, weekends are probably not ideal, however it's probably worth testing a weekend if you're sending a consumer driven email.

Test, Test and More Testing


Smaller changes in A/B testing are easier to discover what is compelling to the recipients of your email. Consider tests of the following:

  • The more compelling an email subject line the better. Make small changes, add an emoji, change your verb test for higher open rates.

  • Colors - What colors draw more clicks on your call to action button? Test for higher click through conversions.

  • Hero image - is there an image that draws readers down to your call to action button.
